Proper Care

Poly lumber furniture is superior to wooden lawn furniture or aluminum outdoor furniture because it's created from recycled HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene). It is extremely resistant to any weather conditions making it relatively maintenance-free furniture. Poly lumber is considered to have a high level of corrosive resistance.

Because it is essentially maintenance-free, you can enjoy your weekends sitting in your outdoor lawn furniture rather than working to maintain its’ appearance and structural integrity. Poly lumber furniture has been designed to have the sleek appearance of wood lawn furniture without all the nuisances associated with actually owning wooden furniture.

All exterior furniture and materials require cleaning from time to time, and this furniture is no different. It's simple to maintain the beauty of your poly lumber furniture. We recommend a semi-annual cleaning with soap-and-water or a gentle pressure washing. Get ready to enjoy your comfortable outdoor living with minimal maintenance.

The affected area should be sprayed off with a hose to remove surface debris. Use warm, soapy water and a soft bristle brush to remove dirt and debris from the grain pattern of the furniture.

Remove all debris from furniture using a hose or broom. Once the surface is dry, you may apply a "deck brightener" ** to the surfaces as directed by the brightener’s manufacturer. Deck brighteners contain oxalic acid, which will remove tannins. Verify on an inconspicuous location prior to use on any visible location.

A plastic shovel may be used to remove snow from the furniture. Use calcium chloride or rock salt to melt the snow and ice from the deck surface.

All food spills should be removed as soon as possible. The surface must be cleaned within seven days to maintain the stain warranty. To remove, spray off with a hose and use warm, soapy water and a soft bristle brush to remove spills from embossing pattern.

If debris, such as pollen and dirt, is allowed to remain on the surface, mold can feed on the biofilm. Using a hose and warm, soapy water with a soft bristle brush is recommended to remove the food source and mold.

A pressure washer with no greater than 2100 psi*****that has a fan attachment/adjustment and soap dispenser may be used to remove dirt, concrete dust, or other types of airborne particulates. Spray furniture with soap, then follow by gently scrubbing with a soft bristle brush. Spray/rinse each individual board using fan tip no closer than 8" from the surface. RINSE THOROUGHLY. If dirty water from cleaning is left to dry, this will cause a film to remain on the furniture surface.

OTHER guidance

NEVER use acetone or other solvents on poly lumber furniture in order to maintain the beauty of the surface. For small surface scratches, marks or scuffs, use Dupli-Color Scratch Seal Clear Sealer Pen.****

** Use of products containing bleach or acid will lighten the surface of poly lumber furniture. Use in an inconspicuous area to determine whether you like the effect. Neither product will affect the structural integrity.
